Digital DTD Guide

Digital DTD Guide

A guide for preparing fullsuit body references with full-body photos and body measurements instead of a traditional duct tape dummy.

Before You Shoot

Prepare: balaclava / fitted full-body suit or compression top and bottom / tripod or photo assistant / measuring tape / bright, tidy background

01

Clothing

Wear a balaclava and a tight full-body suit or fitted compression top and bottom. Your body silhouette should be clearly visible.

02

Camera Setup

Use a tripod or ask another person to take the photos. Keep the camera fixed and level for all required angles.

03

Measuring and Background

Prepare a measuring tape marked in centimeters and shoot against a bright, simple background so the body outline stays clear.

Step 1

Body Measurements

Measure A through H and send the numbers with your photos by Telegram or Twitter/X DM. Keep the measuring tape against the body without tightening it, and write every value in centimeters.

A Overall Height

Stand barefoot and upright, then measure from the floor to the top of the head.

B Arm Span

In T-pose, measure horizontally from the tip of the left hand to the tip of the right hand.

C Shoulder Height

Measure from the floor to the shoulder line.

D Shoulder Width

Measure from the end of one shoulder to the end of the other shoulder.

E Chest Circumference

Wrap the tape horizontally around the widest point of the chest.

F Hip Circumference

Wrap the tape horizontally around the widest point of the hips.

G Inseam

Measure along the inside of the leg from the crotch to the ankle or floor reference point.

H Knee Height

Measure from the floor to the center of the knee.

Step 2

T-pose Photo Guide

Take one clear full-body photo each from the front, side, and back. Matching the camera distance and lens setup helps preserve body proportions more accurately.

01

Pose

Hold both arms at 90 degrees from the body, keep palms facing down, and make the pose as symmetrical as possible.

02

Feet

Keep about 30cm between your feet, with toes facing forward instead of turning outward.

03

Framing

Send three photos: front, side, and back. Make sure the full body from head to toe is visible and not cropped.

04

Lens and Distance

Close shooting distances and wide-angle lenses can distort body proportions.

  • Keep at least 3m between the camera and the person.
  • When possible, shoot from 5-6m away.
  • For smartphones, use 3x optical zoom or a telephoto lens.
  • Do not use a 0.5x wide-angle lens.
  • Set the camera height around chest level.
